Sonic Hubs
Our proprietery Sonic hubs utilize forged alloy shells. Forging aligns the metal grain to the contours of the hub shell. They lighter weight than hubs CNCed from billet, and they don't break. Rear sonics have a lightweight alloy cassette body, for either Campy or Shimano. Lightweight alloy axles are used on all sonic hubs.
Bearings
We use high grade (ABEC 5) sealed cartridge bearings, so the hubs are smooth rolling and easily servicable. Front hubs have 2 bearings. Rears have 4 - 2 in the shell, and 2 in the cassette body. Three hardened steel pawls and a hardened steel ratchet ring give quick cassette engagement and extreme longevity.
Ceramic Bearings
Optional. We offer Grade 5 ceramic bearings. DETAILS
Disc and H3 hub
H3 and Disc hubs are alloy with either two cartridge bearings (H3 front) or one cartridge and 9 loose balls (disc and H3 rear). The hubs are co-molded to the rest of the wheel and cannot be changed.
Spokes
All our spokes are bladed, with 14g threads. Sapim makes all our steel spokes.
We manufacture our own Titanium spokes from 6/4 titanium, rather than the 3.25 alloy commonly used for spokes. It has less elongation and higher yield strength. With 6/4 ti, we can make a spoke with higher strength and durability than stainless steel but 33% lower weight.
Because 6/4 titanium cannot be safely worked to make a traditional spoke, we use stainless steel spokes for rear wheels.
