DESIGNED FOR MORE.
The result is one of the fastest non-disc rear wheels HED has ever created—built for race day, long-course speed, and the demands of Kona.
At 180mm deep, its extreme aero profile is designed to carry speed over long, fast courses while maintaining the familiar ride and handling characteristics of a spoked wheel.
Its 21mm internal width supports modern race tires, while HED’s carbon-and-aluminum Jet construction combines aerodynamic shaping with a proven structural rim.
KEY FEATURES.
TECHNOLOGY.
The Jet 180 pushes HED's Jet aerodynamic platform to its extreme. Its 180mm-deep profile is designed to minimize aerodynamic drag at race speeds while retaining a traditional spoked-wheel structure.
Unlike a full structural carbon disc, the Jet 180 uses HED's proven hybrid construction, pairing an aluminum rim with a shaped carbon aerodynamic fairing. The rim provides the structural foundation of the wheel while the carbon fairing creates its exceptionally deep aerodynamic profile.
A 21mm internal rim width supports modern race tires and tubeless setups, giving athletes the ability to pair extreme aerodynamic depth with contemporary tire technology.
The basic construction distinction is consistent with how HED currently describes the Jet Series generally: carbon aerodynamic material bonded to an aluminum alloy rim base.

RIMS
Rim Brake:
The Jet 180 rim brake rear wheel uses HED’s hybrid Jet construction, pairing a structural alloy rim with a carbon aerodynamic fairing. It features a 21mm internal width, 25mm external width, and a 32.5mm widest fairing point, all built around its extreme 180mm-deep aerodynamic profile.
Disc Brake:
The Jet 180 disc brake rear wheel uses the same hybrid Jet construction with a structural alloy rim and carbon aerodynamic fairing. It features a 21mm internal width, 25mm external width, and a 32.5mm widest fairing point, delivering maximum rear-wheel aerodynamic performance with disc brake compatibility.
SPOKES
Built with Sapim CX-Ray spokes for low weight, aerodynamic efficiency, and proven race-day reliability.
NIPPLES
Built with durable, serviceable spoke nipples to support accurate spoke tension and long-term wheel durability.

RIMS
The Jet 180 uses HED’s proven hybrid construction, pairing a structural aluminum rim with an ultra-deep carbon aerodynamic fairing. Its 180mm profile is designed to deliver near-disc aerodynamic performance while retaining the ride and handling characteristics of a spoked wheel.
A 21mm internal width and 25mm external rim width support modern race tires, while the fairing reaches 32.5mm at its widest point. The result is an extreme aero platform developed specifically for high-speed triathlon and time trial racing.
REAR HUBS
Jet 180 hub specifications vary by brake configuration.
The rim brake version uses HED’s Pro 5-pawl rear hub with 6902 bearings and a traditional quick-release axle. The disc brake version uses a 12x142mm Centerlock thru-axle hub with two 6803RS bearings and a 36-tooth dual-ratchet freehub system.
Both configurations are built for reliable power transfer, smooth rotation, and race-day serviceability.
SPOKES
The Jet 180 minimizes exposed spoke length through its massive 180mm aerodynamic fairing, helping create a rear wheel that approaches the aerodynamic profile of a full disc.
The rim brake version uses Sapim CX-Ray spokes, while the disc brake version uses bladed straight-pull spokes. Every Jet 180 is individually tensioned, trued, and inspected by HED’s wheel-building team in Minnesota.
